Our Service Offerings
GSM Systems
“Global Systems Mobile” or 2G/GPRS began this huge trend in today’s technology world. Millions of devices are still connected on this technology and will be for many years. The ability to use GSM enabled devices to monitor and transmit data from various systems without using TONS OF DATA allowed the technology to be very DATA cost effective and user friendly. GSM is covered by the major Network providers in our country – Vodacom, MTN, Cell-C, Telkom. So long as there is 2G available in the area so can you connect using this technology. However today there are many more offerings then simple 2G.
There’s 3G, 4G, LTE and shortly there will be 5G.
Not all are required and it is very dependent on your requirements and the data transfers that determine what technology works best for you. When GSM first entered the world it was not seen as the best for Control purposes due to being 3rd party Network dependent, however over the last few years the Network providers are providing increasingly stable “uptime” of their networks which make for an obviously better environment for Control. GSM systems can vary from fairly simple single point data collections (ie reservoir level) to large scale sites (ie Water Treatment works) as most equipment has the capability to be expanded upon to suit the requirements.
What GSM systems do offer that caters very well with remote sites are: Remote diagnostics, remote control directly to site device (ie not through multiple servers first which can provide weak points), the facility to easily re-configure / modify the device to suit changes that are necessary and to provide remote upgrades (ie software).
Our GSM offerings are perfectly suited for the following applications: Water and Waste Water systems / Borehole monitoring / Generator monitoring / Electrical monitoring / Refrigeration monitoring / flow monitoring.
GSM is not the most suited to being battery powered due to its inherently fairly power hungry connectivity nature. However technology has allowed for Nano controllers to be used which enable a device to be “semi-awake” to monitor status’s without the power hungry devices to be active. Hence we have a battery powered GSM module that is perfectly suited for pulse counting in remote areas. The pulse counting continues un-hindered and drops data in registers whilst the Main GSM engine is Asleep. This allows multiple registers to be populated enabling the device to show time stamped data even if the engine wakes up and sends info every 8 hours. A handy aspect if hourly pulse data is required and a power source is not available.. The battery, which is replaceable, is expected to last a few years – dependent on configuration and frequency of transmissions.
Perfectly suited to remote flow-monitoring applications and anywhere that an external power source is NOT available.
Modbus RTU / TCP / Industrial eThernet
Our Web platform is ready when you are for monitoring and controlling anything that is Modbus RTU or TCP and eThernet compliant. Perfect for monitoring and controlling such devices as VSD’s / generators / fridges etc. Our Modbus RTU / TCP software is loaded on a Linux based UC and all that is required is connectivity – WiFi / Lan / Modem. Modbus Register layout is preferential for testing and configuration aspects.
Sigfox
Sigfox has gained massive popularity worldwide for the use of monitoring devices and sensors due to Low price breakpoint. The devices are setup to merely drop data based off programmed specifications and literally go back to sleep. This allows the battery powered devices to remain active in the field for many years on small compact batteries. For Sigfox coverage please view the Sigfox coverage map on internet which gives an overall coverage – for actual site coverage site inspections are recommended before quoting. If the Sigfox network is NOT available and quantities are high enough coverage can be setup in the area – T&C’s apply.
Our range of Sigfox devices are quantity priced and are all web platform ready. There are many devices available which allows for multiple monitoring solutions:
- Water flow monitoring (both pulse and Mbus meter complaint)
- Electrical Pulse monitoring
- GPS monitoring
- Temperature monitoring
- Access / Tamper monitoring
- 4-20mA or 0-10V signal monitoring
- Water detection monitoring
- Digital I/P monitoring – 2*I/P’s
Sigfox is perfectly suited for small data requirement sites such as: Boreholes / Residential Houses (water, electrical & water detection) / offices for temperature monitoring / access points requiring monitoring and alerting.
Solar Systems:
We have deployed many systems in the field where standard electrical supply is not available but a “Fair” electrical consumption from devices is expected, hence the reason why we offer Solar as an option to all our clients. In areas where battery power or Sigfox is NOT an option Solar power is an obvious choice. Although Solar is seen as an “Easy Theft Target” our custom built enclosures ensure maximum protection to minimize vandalism.
Ranging from small 10W 12Vdc systems to larger KW type systems a Solar Control system can be provided. Solar designs are very much “requirement specific” and as such no pricing can be given unless all relevant data is provided for the solution to be powered, is provided. The Solar solutions need not only be IoT specific and can cover a wide range of needs. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Web Platform:
With our association with biTid (OpenThings Platform) we have to facility to bring data to you – wherever you are. Data can be displayed on PC / Tablet and Smartphone.
The Smartphone app is perfect for checking site status’s / receiving alerts and even STOP / STARTING a borehole pump. Lets face it, most have a Smartphone in their pockets today and what better and easier way to check on your connected devices then on your phone. Simply add your connected devices to the app, register and the information is right on your fingertips. No more having to phone the office or travelling to site, simply click away and view them on the palm on your hand.
The Web Browser Platform, due to its inherent larger screen and display size gives you all the functionality that the Smartphone app does and MORE. View Reports (Signal trending graphs) for analysis and fault finding. View MAPs to track your NON Static devices (ie vehicles / plant etc) and “Pull” historical data in CSV or xlsx format in order to perform full data analysis.
Don’t go to site all the time, let the site send you data
